My Journy at Myket


Myket is an Iranian local android app store, founded in 2012. Having been the second of its kind in Iran, Myket had been facing the challenge of following its rival , Cafe Bazaar, for more than 5 years. Myket did not have product teams and till I have joined them, there was no one who took the responsibility of managing products with standard process and it was developers and tech leads who designed the app as they developed it, and since they followed Cafe Bazaar and Google Play, they did not have product vision and clear goals. My job in my team at Myket started with defining business and product vision and then setting up a product team with correct structure and proper culture.



With in lots of face-to-face and team meetings in a month and leading a market research, our Vision and Mission for the product has been defined and in that way not only does every one clearly know what we ought to chase but they have been also involved in whole process of reaching a consensus about the result. In this process we have analyzed Myket value curve versus Cafe Bazaar and Google Play and in the end we have chosen to “Empower Digital LifeStyle for Iranians” as our vision at Myket.ir.



After finalizing product vision roadmap, we set up our OKR at product team and design and engineering teams followed this procedure internally as well. Then we started with redesign the application to co-ordinance with our vision. At this step, we try our process for the first time and with weekly retrospective meetings we could optimize the process on the go and in less than three month we could release our first redesigned app version.



During two quarters with the aim of redesigning app as one of the main objective in our OKR, we redesigned lots of app features with the hands of data and usability tests as well. Moreover, with proper go-to-market strategy, we could increase our user base with 30 percent in a month after launching the redesigned version and about 100 percent in 8 months.



One of our major steps in Myket was developing business and product dashboards so as to check and control the outcomes in accordance with our goals in our OKR. Thanks to our BI team, this happened concurrently with the redesign phase and we could watch our outcomes from the very early stage of our first release. This, thus, led to us revising our priorities in redesign and UX/UI of the features in product management side as well as marketing campaigns and retention plans in marketing management side.
